What: Pittsburgh Tour of Climate Scrooges
When: Tuesday, December 1st, 2:00pm
Where: Gateway Center (Liberty Ave. between Commonwealth Place and Stanwix)

Dress: Warm! It will be December, also, we would appreciate it if you would participate in the theatrics of the action by wearing dark colors to represent that you are coming from the gloomy future.

Join Three Rivers Rising Tide and the Three Rivers Action Council as we accompany the Ghost of Climate Future to pay visits to some of Allegheny County’s most outrageous climate Scrooges and some of their government enablers. We’ll be haunting Babst Calland, PPG, EQT, PNC, US Steel, Rich Fitzgerald and the Allegheny County Health Department. We’ll show them what our climate future will look like if they don’t stop their polluting ways.

Not so coincidentally, County Executive Rich Fitzgerald has appointed representatives of many of these climate Scrooges to sit on the county’s Air Pollution Control Advisory Board (APCAB), the government body with oversight over air quality in our community. If it weren’t dominated by corporate interests, the APCAB could have the power to regulate polluters like Shenango Coke Works on Neville Island. Instead the Board has consistently protected some of the county’s worst polluters and Board member Chip Babst’s firm is representing Shenango in numerous lawsuits and legal actions for violations of the Clean Air Act and other environmental regulations.

The Ghost of Climate Future is coming after these regulators who are more interested in protecting their corporate interests than our community.

Meet us at Gateway Center (Liberty Ave. between Commonwealth Place and Stanwix) at 2pm on Tuesday, December 1. Dress warm and be prepared for a 1.5 mile march!
